Trailer of the Day: The Milky Way (new Criterion) and The Phantom of Liberty
Trailer of the Day
The Milky Way
This is such a great trailer. An old Luis Bunuel film (one of my favorites) that was rereleased just a couple of weeks ago by the Criterion Collection. It's great, more gold from Bunuel, who, if you haven't seen, you must, he was a one of a kind visionary...
Retro-Trailer of the Day
The Phantom of Liberty
My personal favorite in Bunuel's catalogue and one of the greatest feature length surrealist films available. More films that Dustin says you must see... It's incredibly strange, the disjointed, fragmented nature of the trailer pretty much mimics the structure of the entire film... this was one of Bunuel's collaborations with Jean-Claude Carriere, who assisted Bunuel, post-Dali, with all of his greatest works, until Dali sold him out and was, more-or-less, exiled from European filmmaking community.
