Jeremy Blake 1972-2007
Artist Jeremy Blake has passed away today, New York Police have said, in an apparent suicide at his New York City apartment. An up-and-coming avant-garde artist who sought to bridge the worlds of film and painting, his contirbutions to the world of art, by age 35, have been significant. One of his best known pieces of work were the hallucinatory sequences of blending primary colors between scenes in Paul Thomas Anderson's 2002 film 'Punch Drunk Love.' His long-time companion, Theresa Duncan, a filmmaker, artist and sometime video-game designed, commited suicide early last month in the couples Manhattan home. Blake was a visionary artist whose work will be missed.
Siskel, Ebert and Roeper reviews archive begun online
A complete archive of the legendary critics work has been introduced in an online archive. The site is kind of bare bone right now (except for the thousands of reviews you can access) but I'm sure there is a lot more to come. Click here to be taken to the ridiculous review archive, because what the internet needs is more Roger Ebert... (it's actually pretty good...)
Why Raimi? Why?...or this better be good
Sam Raimi has announced, in an interview at Comic-Con, that pre-production has indeed begun on a Spiderman 4. Though he remained cryptic when discussing details he did say they are hunting for a writer to pen the screenplay. He said he was not yet certain what his role would be in the film, whether he would begin to bow-out of the Spiderman empire and reamin in a production role or if he would end up, yet again, directing the fourth installment of the once interesting series.
