As the fine people who run Bloody-Disgusting.com said "I can now safely declare that this franchise has entered 'ridiculous sequel mode'." The word today is that Universal Studios has officially begun casting for the film, which will be shot in Hawaii. Laura Dern has confirmed her return to the franchise as Dr. Elie Sattler, Sam Neil will not be back, and neither will Jeff Goldblum.
Remember for this last bit that you are not reading The Onion. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that the plot synopsis, thus far, is that the government has taken the dinosaurs and trained them to carry weapons. Essentially turning the dinosaurs into a wartime weapon of their own. I'm shocked by the plot (though it's early, it could be better than it sounds, but probably not) but I'm even more shocked that Laura Dern has signed on for this.
