G.I. Joe gets a director
The Paramount-Dreamworks production of the G.I. Joe movie has found a director. Stephen Sommers, the writer-director of the Mummy series and Van Helsing will be hrlming the production slated to be completed in 2010, but IGN is reporting that production may begin sooner than planned to avoid being delayed by the impending Hollwood strike. The word is that the live action film will be part origin story by Skip Woods (Swordfish) and part screen play by David Elliot and Paul Lovet (Four Brothers).
This is a great case study in Hollwood production. Transformers makes money, so let's rehash another 80's cartoon, with lots of visual effects, that's already had a cult-ish feature length cartoon movie...
