G.I. Joe now directorless
As previously reported, here and at other sites such as Rotten Tomatoes, Stepehn Summers (The Mummy Series) was supposed to be directing the upcoming G.I. Joe film. Well today Rotten Tomatoes is reporting that he has already left the project over a contract and salary dispute. So the project is once again directorless.
The film's producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is also now saying that this might not only be a G.I. Joe movie, but they are going to add in the British counterpart, Action Man. He is reportedly in talks with Jason Statham over taking the Action Man role, while Mark Wahlberg is in talks about playing Duke, the leader of the american G.I. Joe team.
So, then, what the hell kind of movie movie are they making? ISEB says:
Oh, I get it, so kind of like 'Team America' but you're serious. The film will be all live action but rubber bands will not adjoin any torsos to legs...
Have they thought about maybe recasting Sgt. Slaughter?

The new GI Joe/Action Man team is expected to be made up of various individuals from around the world and will not be exclusively American or British. The characters will still be based from the original cartoons, toys and comics but with a globe-trotting flavor.
